The Service of Lessons and Carols at the Parish Church on 22nd December was a time for members of the congregation, neighbours from the village and their family and friends to come together and listen to the telling of the Christmas story. Children had their own related activities before joining their families for the final part of the service. Of course, being Madingley, home-made refreshments and much chatting took place afterwards. It was wonderful to have the Chancel returned to use following the re-roofing project and for the church to be filled with candles, gorgeous arrangements of flowers, the sound of the organ and accompanying voices – a wonderful introduction to the Christmas celebrations.
