“Greetings during Lent. I pray that you are managing to find something of God amidst this present darkness. Your prayers for me and patience while we are closed for public worship are a blessing.
I write to outline our plan for re-introducing public worship at St Mary Magdalene over the coming weeks. At the moment, infection numbers continue to reduce, and the immunisation programme continues apace. Thanks be to God for the ingenuity of the scientists and for all of those involved in administering immunisations! As a result of this we are cautiously seeking to resume public worship in March from Sunday 28th (Palm Sunday)
For all public services at this time restrictions will continue to be in place. We will need to retain hygiene and physical distancing measures. We will need to continue the wearing of facemasks and we will need to refrain from singing and sharing refreshments after services. However, we do hope that there will be some joy in gathering back together again, even with the restrictions.
To be clear, the intended programme of services in March is:
• Sunday 7th – 10am service (online only)
• Sunday 14th – 10am service (online only) [and 6pm Evensong (in person – Girton)]
• Sunday 21st – 10am service (online only) [and 6pm Evensong (in person – Girton)]
• Sunday 28th – 10:30am service (in person)
• Easter Sunday – 10:30am Easter Sunday Communion (in person)
There will also be services in Holy Week. Details to be confirmed. Please do continue to check for updates where possible as the above programme is contingent on the continued improvement of the Covid-19 situation.
